I pray you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The holiday season can be difficult for many. The stress of shopping and finding that perfect gift for that special someone. Some are traveling which adds extra expense and creates busy schedules. For me this year, it is the first Christmas without Dad. Though we have not celebrated a big family Christmas for several years, it is still difficult this year.

Through all the challenging, stressful days, there is One who gives us hope, the Christ child. My nativity scene is usually the first decoration I display and the last to be put away. It serves as a great reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.

When you unwrap all the commercialism that is thrust upon us, and return to the heart of Christmas, you find love, peace and joy which is greater than any manmade present or tradition.

God will comfort the brokenhearted through the holidays.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Psalm 34:28

He will give you true joy when you focus on the birth of our Savior.

The angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.” Luke 2:10

And Jesus gives us peace in all situations….even the stress of the holiday season.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

May you draw close to the Son and bask in the love, joy and peace He provides this Christmas! Remember to share God’s love with those around you through a warm hug, and a smile as you remind them that Jesus is the Ultimate Gift. Don’t let Christmas end after December 25th…

Mother Teresa  once said, “It is Christmas every time you let God love others through you…
Yes, it is Christmas every time you smile at your brother and offer him your hand.
